Snow that nobody has trodden on, paths that nobody has walked along: To the Inner Wumbls-Alm in RatschingsThe tour begins about 1km behind the lifts of Ratschings skiing area, where thestreet starts an uphill climb (1884 m). A relatively even forest path goes on to the West, the Pulverer forest path, to the Inner and Outer Wumbls-Alm. After a sharp bend the paths turn off to the left or North to Kaserlicht-Alm and Saxner lodge and a little further on the path to the Outer Wumbls-Alm: Do not pay attention to these; stay on the forest path. You will cross the Sommerweg and the tracks of the skiing tour participants, who take a short-cut through the dense, steep woods. The steep on which the Wumbls- Alm is situated is marked in red and white (no. 10) and leads to Schloterjoch (or Schlattacher Jöchl) at a height of 2264 m. If the snow situation is good and there is a track you can follow it up to the preserve. But for this tour we are satisfied with the ascent to the Inner Wumbls-Alm. As soon as you leave the woods (1 ½ hours walk from the car park), you walk on Alm pastures, the Alm itself is situated a little further up the hill on a terrace. There are four buildings on the spacious area, the table and bench in front of the Wumbls- Alm lodge (1906 m; unfortunately not open in Winter) invite you to rest for a while. In the background there is a circle of mountains, which forms the border to the Passeiertal immediately behind it. And those who want another summit can clamber up to a peak near the Alm on which there is a weather cross. The return journey follows the ascent track.
